Detailed History
Tumlin Bros. garage This business is listed at 1608 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, which may be its true location. However, the 1948 City Directory lists a residence for African-Americans Barto and Harris Tumlin at 1608 Pyron Street and nothing at either 1608 North or 1608 South Tryon Street. Pyron Street was located in the black Greenville neighborhood that was altered during Urban Renewal and the construction of I-77. I have mapped this entry at the Pyron Street site. —Andrew S.
