This taxi stand is listed in the 1939 Green Book at 720 Eaton Street, Greensboro, but I can find no street with this name on any Sanborn map. However, Clarence Greene was a black man who lived at 720 Eaton Street, Henderson as listed in that town's 1940 City Directory, which matches the Green & Chavis entry. This taxi service is also listed in the Green Book at 720 Eaton Street, Henderson – an address that still exists, but it is unclear if the house there now is the same as the property described in the Green Book, as the Vance County tax card states it was built in 1951 and the Green Book entries both predate and follow 1951. This appears to be a copyediting error on the part of the Green Book publisher. —Andrew S. Edmonds
